On our way from Cody to the Eastern Entrance, I looked up and saw a visual reminder of the West:
Once we entered the park, we saw mule deer, moose, Pronghorn antelope, coyotes, pelicans (yes, there are fresh water pelicans) and lots of wondrous sights. The animals moved too quickly to capture on my camera, but WE know what we saw! We are still looking for a bison for Nance!!
We drove over the Continental Divide (twice), we crossed over 45th Parallel (the exact point which designated us halfway between the Equator and the North Pole), we eyed Gibbon Falls and the many faces of the Shoshone River. We experienced the heat, steam, smell and growling of many geysers and formations besides Old Faithful. I even recorded (still can't figure out how to upload a video!) the growling of the Red Spouter geyser. I gorged on the scent of sage and the sight of yarrow!
I decline to try to find words to describe the wonders of Yellowstone, so after the following few sentences, just grab a beverage and enjoy the pictures.

One kind of cool "small world" incident - Nancy got into a conversation with the gift shop clerk at the park's visitor's center, mentioning we were from North Carolina and Florida. The clerk asked what part of Florida and Nance said, "Middleburg, up by Jacksonville." To her astonishment, the girl responded that one of her best friends graduated from Middleburg High. Nance and I went back later, but the clerk was gone to lunch. Still - that six degrees of separation moment!
Our day in Yellowstone:
