As we've been planning this trip for more than a year, it almost seems anti-climatic that we have finally arrived at travel day number 1. I am not sure how people separated by thousands of miles (Florida and Brazil) managed to coordinate everything back in the day, but FaceTime has been a fabulous tool for keeping the two of us in sync over the past months with Audrey, our travel guru from The Travel Authority.
The porch plants have been moved to the shade, the inside plants have been soaked. I'm packed and ready to begin this new adventure! My flight leaves at 2:25, then I have a couple of hours in Atlanta… long enough to listen to a few chapters of Clive Cussler or David Baldacci while I finish knitting a scarf.
I arrive in San Francisco at 9:15 tonight. Barbara has decided to wait for me so we can cab to the hotel together. That's when this vacation will really begin for me! I'm excited to see SF again. The last time I was there was when Dina and I presented at AREA and we didn't stay long. I hope this visit I can arrange to see the surf at Mavericks!
There is a heat advisory for North Florida until later this evening (feels like 110!!), hence I am relishing the fact that today it's supposed to be in the mid/low-60's in San Francisco!!!!
Now it's about 4:30 and I'm in Atlanta enjoying a drink while I wait for my flight to SF. This airport has a lot to offer the non-time crunched traveler...of course, I'm too damn cheap (frugal) to enjoy a lot of what's available, but there's still a lot to see. And as a confirmed member of People-Watchers-Anonymous, I having a blast devising backgrounds for the folks passing me by.
