Off to the Woods

Breakfast at Pescadero was a great omelette, then walked the few blocks to the tour office. Boarded uo front: the picture window offered wonderful shots during our drive around Fisherman's Wharf,
across the Golden Gate Bridge to Muir Woods. Though the morning had just a bit of fog, it added atmosphere to the bridge tower as we drove under it.

Norma, our bus driver, spun so many stories that we almost missed the bridge and the view from it as we crossed over the water into the Marin Headlands and through the Robin Williams/Rainbow tunnel. (No picture as, one tunnel looks pretty much like any otehr to me, just size differences.) After twisting and turning along roads that rivaled those we drove along in the Pyrenees in Spain a few years ago (actually, Barbara drove; I looked at scenery.)
Muir Woods was as wonderful as I remembered. As we strolled the trails, "serene" was the word that kept echoing between us. We could actually feel the tension and stress leaving us as the cedasr/sage/redwood scented breezes blew our hair and rustled the leaves and tree tops. Barbara discovered the burls (infant redwoods attatched to parent tress, while I kept looking for hobbits or elves peeking through the fronds and leaves. (Mirkwood must have been inspired by California's redwoods!)
