Woke and walked a bit before breakfast, not too much as it is really cold and I forgot to bring hat and gloves.
Arrived at the ship a little before noon, was in my stateroom unpacking before 12:15. Speedy process this time. Met Edwin, my cabin steward, who was familiar as he had been /Sheila’s steward on a couple of occasions. Sat on my balcony to read a bit, sip the complimentary champagne, look at Miss Liberty and watch the harbor traffic for a while.
Walked the decks and met Latress from Sacramento whose sister gave her this trip to thank her for taking car of their father and grandfather as they age. Very nice chatting with her and sharing with a newbie some of the ways of this vessel. We stopped at Chart Room for a cocktail and found we both drink Tanqueray, though she’d never tried the 10.
My original table was 336 up in the corner of the upper level. When I asked, it was changed to 67, just across from the Captain’s Circle. While in Britannia, I met Satay who remembered me and showed me where 336 was located. He said he was working the Captain’s Table so probably wouldn’t see me, but I could wave.
Boat safety drill and sail way party remain the same as always. Dressed for dinner, dropped in Chart Room and met Bob, lawyer from Alabama, on his way to Edinburgh to meet his daughter. dinner table was less than full, though conversation was lively. Hannah and her mother, who name I missed were charming.
Chatted with Pryan, from the Maldives, in Computer center.
While on my way back to cabin, met and hugged Nora, my favorite bartender. She’s in Golden Lion this trip, that place is so crowded I don’t know if I’ll see her this crossing.
Bed called and I succumbed.
