Disney Adventure
Two months ago I saw a TV commercial for Disney World
touting “4 Parks in 4 Days for $70 each day.” I called the Harrells to see if
they were interested. Kathleen got a week off from school, Chad’s boss okayed
his leave and PJ was ready to leave the second he heard about the possibility
of meeting Mickey Mouse and Cinderella.
I called Disney’s Booking Office and lucked out with Elijah,
possibly the Numero Uno Guest Services Provider ever! When I mentioned the need
for two rooms because I’m old and don’t deal well with snorers, he suggested a
family suite. My initial too-expensive rejection was countered with an
explanation of the rates possible for Florida Residents IF one of the family
suits allocated was available. It was and here we are settled into the Finding
Nemo suite in the Art of Imagination resort!. True, we are six miles from the
Magic Kingdom, but, hey, the buses are air-conditioned and run every 20
minutes!
The Harrells arrived in The Burg yesterday afternoon,
settled in to a non-moving environment for the evening and we were all in bed
rather early. This morning, right after we dressed, we donned our Magic Bands
and posed for a group shot.
Loading the car went quickly. I am STUNNED by the amount of
“stuff” necessary for traveling with a 4 year old! WOW! Good thing we decided
to take Mary Todd and not the Harrells’ rental!! I made the executive decision to travel south
on 19 and not drive the interstates.

I was extremely glad of that choice when,
just outside Interlachen, PJ suddenly announced his tummy hurt and promptly
threw up the grapes he’d had for breakfast! Be proud of me – I did not join
him, even though that’s my normal reaction to such an occurrence! Chad and
Kathleen were amazing – calm and collected, they were such a well-oiled machine
of teamwork it was impressive. I had Mary Todd pulled off the road and stopped
before PJ was finished; Chad leaped out the door with Kathleen nurturing an
“I’m not in trouble am I?” toddler. In a very few minutes PJ was in fresh
clothes, Mary Todd was wiped down (God Bless Baby Wipes!). As we pulled back
onto 19 already nearly back to normal, I noted the benefit of NOT being on I-95
and PJ wanted to know how much longer we had to ride!

Check in was a breeze and we were off to Disney Springs
(formerly Downtown Disney) and lunch at the Rainforest café. Amanda, our
waitress, surprised PJ with a lighted candle birthday Chocolate Pudding Lava
Cake!!!!

The Rainforest Café is almost a sensory overload for a wee
one – monkeys chatter, lightning flashes, thunder rolls, rain falls, gorillas
thump and growl and birds call all while children are trying to focus on
eating!!! Hey, life’s an adventure, right??
Pool play at The Big Blue pool, then time to eat, again! Dinner at resort restaurant...Kathleen's burger was huge!! I, in the spirit of Weight Watchers, had Tandoori Chicken! Did I mention that we are in a family suite (Finding Nemo) at the resort: sleeps six in three double beds (one is a Murphy bed) with two full bathrooms and a kitchenette!!! My favorite part, so far, is the awesome shower curtain!!
Then, after dinner, Kathleen and I used the New Balance trail to walk!
Aaannnd tomorrow is The Magic Kingdom!!
